Lecture-Demonstration Program

An Arts Education

Demonstrating the importance of the performing arts in our society is an integral component of NYB’s mission. NYB’s educational Lecture-demonstrations give NYB dancers opportunities throughout the season to traveto travel to local and private schools, retirement homes, libraries and hospitals to encourage and educate its audience in all aspects of dance and theater. The hour-long lec-demo showcases the importance of training a dancer for the stage while educating the audience on the history of classical ballet. It concludes with a Q&A session for audience members to meet the dancers upclose and personal. The program has been well received since the company was founded in 1996.

“After experiencing your superb lecture-demonstration at our school and your exquisite performance of The Nutcracker last year, our third grade team can’t wait for information about this year’s performances. We don’t want to miss out!”

- Bill Cassell, North Reading Middle School
